Ventrilo/Teamspeak 2 Voice Overlay For Gaming
FREE Download & Setup Instructions

First, download and install the Ventrilo/Teamspeak 2 Voice Overlay program onto your computer and create a shortcut to the program on your desktop.

Free full version: Download Here

Next, without starting Ventrilo or Teamspeak 2, start the Voice Overlay program by clicking on the icon on your desktop.  You will see a screen open that looks like this one to the right.

Click on the "Options" button to get to the settings and options screen.

The first option that you have is the "Font".  This is where you can select the font and font size that will be dislayed in the overlay while you are in the NR2003 game.

To change the font, simply click on "Select" and make your selections.  I've played around with almost all of the different fonts and I have found that for NR2003, these settings are easy on the eyes and the overlay will not obstruct your view while you're driving.

Font: Arial     Font Style: Bold     Size: 10

Click on "OK" when finished.

Just to the right of the Font option, is the "Text Position" option.  Here you can select where you want the overlay to appear on your game screen.  Select the "top-left" circle.  NOTE Your graphics settings in NASCAR 2003 must be set at 1024 x 768 for the overlay to show up on your screen unless you set the text position to "top center".

Next is your color preferences.  I have mine set to exactly what this example image to the left shows.  Again, I find these settings to be easy on the eyes while driving.   To change a color, simply click on the color next to the option it represents, pick the color you want and click "OK".

Set the "Output Options" to exactly how they are in this example image.

Using the dropdown boxes, set the "Show connecting/disconnecting players" to the way you want them.  Mine are set to exactly as they are in the example image.

Next are the "Key Settings".  I have mine set to exactly as they are in this example image.  I have my "Enable/Disable Overlay" unselected because I don't want to accidently turn it off while I'm racing.  I have "Show Users In Channel" selected and the hotkey set to my "Z" key on my keyboard which means I can push my "Z" key anytime during the race and the overlay will display who is in the same Ventrilo or Teamspeak 2 channel that I am in.  To set your hotkey, click on the "Select" button.

I have the "Information Disappear Period" set to 5000 ms (milliseconds).  This is how long the list of users in my channel will be displayed after I hit the "Z" key on my keyboard.  5000 ms is equal to 5 seconds.

Lastly and most importantly, you must make sure that "My Name" in the Voice Overlay program matches EXACTLY with your username in Ventrilo or Teamspeak 2, and then click "OK" on the Voice Overlay program setup screen.

Close the program and the next time you open it you will be set to go!

For This Overlay To Work Properly Follow These Boot Up Instructions

NOTE: This overlay will NOT work if you have started up NR2003 before you start up the overlay program.

NOTE: If you are running both Teamspeak 2 and Ventrilo at the same time and are using this Voice Overlay program, it will by default run on Ventrilo over Teamspeak 2.  There is nothing you can do to overide this.

First, start up Ventrilo or Teamspeak 2.  In this example I started up Teamspeak 2.   It is not necessary at this time to connect to any Teamspeak server.  Once you have opened Teamspeak 2, click on your Voice Overlay program desktop icon to open it.

If your username matches in both progams and all of your settings are correct, you will notice a message under the "Teamspeak2 Status" that reads "Connected".

Next, click on the red button on the Voice Overlay program and it should turn green.  The Voice Overlay is now active.  Now connect to your Teamspeak 2 server and you're ready to start up NR2003.  The overlay will appear in the top left hand side of your screen if you selected the above settings.

You can minimize the Voice Overlay window to your task bar if you wish but do NOT close the window or it will close the program and it will not work.

That's all there is to it.  Now you can see who is talking on Ventrilo or Teamspeak 2, who enters and leaves the channel and at anytime while you're racing, with the touch of a key you'll be able to see who all is in your channel.    Enjoy!
