Ben Simmons wins a big one at Lowes Motor Speedway

Friday, March 12th   The N4Nites Truck Series comes to Charlotte Speedway for the 9th race of the 2010 N4Nites Truck Series.  Mike Redd captured the pole running a 30.765 second lap with Ben Simmons joining Redd on the front row.

As the green flag brought the field to green Mike Redd assumed the top spot, with Simmons, Boneske, Rafuse and Prutzman just had to follow for the first run of the night.  Tire wear was the issue as drivers started tightening up and slapping off the turn 4 wall.

Redd was pulling away after two of the first green flag stops with Simmons trailing in second and Boneske in third, and Rafuse not far behind.  Boneske and Simmons swapped positions as the third green flag stop loomed large in front of the leaders.

Redd and Boneske pitted leaving Simmons out, this was the second pit stop in a row were Simmons and the 94 team seemed to be getting great gas mileage.  As Simmons pulled into pit road the caution came out at Redd and the 00 truck got tagged by Bob Moore and the 60 truck.

Simmons was the only Truck on the lead lap, and Boneske got the lucky dog as the field was brought back to green.  A couple of quick cautions let Redd and Rafuse back on the lead lap, but it was a race that turned out to be between the 49 of Boneske and the 94 of Simmons.

Simmons was leading as he went low into turn one to pass the lapped car of Bob Moore when Boneske dives in behind Simmons slamming into him sending him into the outside wall.  This left only the 47 of Rafuse with a truck without a scratch.

As Simmons brought the field back to green, it wasn't long before Boneske and Rafuse passed Simmons.  Boneske had some trouble allowing Simmons back into second behind Rafuse.  When the final pit stops left Boneske over half a lap behind after his stop, and Simmons and Rafuse pitted together.  Rafuse had trouble on pit road allowing Simmons to leave the pits with a huge lead with under 20 to go.

"Roll out of the throttle" crew chief for the 94 announce to his driver as there was about 15 to go.  Such a big lead allowed Simmons enough fuel to win at Charlotte capturing his second race win in a row.  "Wow what a good win, I though I was out of it after I got WAFFLED by the 49 in turn one passing a lapper.  This was just a good win for the 94 Kellogg's Corn Flakes Team, and nice to get a back to back win.   I feel horrible for Bobby, he had the winning truck on that last stop, he's really close to getting here, one of these times he'll figure it out".

"I would like to thank my team for not giving up and dedicate this win to my Dad who's battling bladder cancer, and Dave's mom who he missed tonight's race to be with after a serious illness, my thoughts and prayers are with them."
