Ben Simmons wins his 3rd in a row at Thompson Speedway

Friday, March 19th
The stars of the N4Nites Simulation racing head to Thompson International Speedway for
the second time and ended much of the same way the first race end.
Mike Redd again took the pole with a 21.020 second lap beating Simmons who ran a 21.043
second lap. Jeff Prutzman, and Bobby Rafuse qualifying 3rd and 4th respectfully,
and Bob Moore rounding out the top 5. The starting grid was ready to race but had
heavy hearts with the absence of Dave Porter missing his second race due to losing his
mother last week.
When the Green Flag flew Redd and Simmons battled to lead the first lap, but it was
Redd sliding in front of Simmons who seemed to back off and let Redd clear the front
of his Kellogg's Chevy. Simmons battled with Redd for the first 8 laps when Redd
got loose off of turn two allowing Simmons to get to the inside as the ford and Chevy
battled down the back stretch. Simmons and Redd running side by side into three,
and the 94 and 00 got together sending Redd careening toward the turn 4 wall, but Redd
kept his truck off the wall and held the truck off the wall. When asked after the
race Simmons said, " Well he drove into me trying to force me down and race to hard."
Simmons did much of what he has been doing the last couple of weeks pulling out to a 1
second lead on Redd. The top two trucks pulled away from the field and the gap
never got closer than 6 tenths of a second.
"I was just listening to my spotter at the gap, and something must have happened on his
pit stop because I didn't see him the rest of the night." The Kellogg's crew was
very good getting him a 9 second lead over Redd and the field after the first stop and
that was all Simmons needed roaring across the line for his third win this year, 4th
overall, and 3rd win in a row.
"I would like to thank my great crew and Kellogg's for a great run tonight, I was just
trying to stay consistent every lap and luckily it paid off for us tonight. This
little streak has been great the the whole 94 team after that travesty at the Glen, to
fight back like his is very rewarding. There are a lot of races left to finish
this season off the way we want to, but I will have that 00, 24,47,49, 52 to try and
stay in front of week in and week out. That's the real challenge here in N4Nites
the field may not be huge but the drivers are all great."
