Racing Rules & Regulations

Standard NASCAR rules are the base rules.

NO intentional wrecking will be tolerated - Any driver who intentionally causes a wreck will be permanently banned from this league!

  • Practice: The server will start up at 7:30 PM EST for a 90 minute practice session before every race.  It is requested that every driver who wishes to qualify for the race be logged on the race server at least 15 minutes prior to qualifying.

  • Qualifying: Once qualifying is complete there will be no resetting the server for late arriving drivers.  New drivers or late arriving drivers may be asked to not qualify.

  • Race: Pace speeds +/-3 MPH until green flag is waved.  Drivers must maintain no more than 2 car lengths distance behind the car in front of them.  If you're coming from pits HOT on a restart lap, and not in pacing position, then you are not allowed to pass anyone until after you have reached the end of turn 2.

  • In hopes of preventing wrecks in the opening laps, we have a "No Spin Rule" - If a driver causes a wreck in the first few laps of a race, and it results in a restart of the race, the driver who is responsible will carry that caution over into the next restart, thus once the race gets going, that driver will already have 1 caution against them.  If a second failed start occurs, the same policy applies.

  • WARNING!!!
Spins and wrecks: Drivers involved in a spin or wreck are required to stay where they are and wait until it's clear to proceed!  If the caution does not come out, DO NOT deliberately bring out the yellow.  If you do, you will be black flagged and disqualified from the race.  If you can't move your car for some reason, use your "escape" key to call for a tow truck as soon as possible.

  • WARNING!!!
Solo Spins: 1st time is recommended that you turn on stability, especially if you have rear end damage.  After a 3rd solo spin it is mandatory that you park your car.  Caution does not need to come out for this rule to be enforced.   If you spin in the race, and the caution does not come out, DO NOT try to force the yellow flag to come out.

  • Retiring from the race due to damage: It is OK to retire from the track due to your car having too much damage to continue but it would be greatly appreciated if retired drivers stayed in the game until the checkers fly to help administrators with replay reviews and other admin duties.  As a member of this league, we encourage you to become involved in the N4Nites racing program.

  • Yellow Flag: Caution! - FIELD IS FROZEN, NO RACING BACK TO THE LINE (except with 10 laps or less to go on ovals and 3 laps or less on road courses).

  • A driver who causes a caution needs to go to the end of the longest line for the restart.   A driver who causes a second caution is required to go to the end of the longest line.  A driver who causes a third caution is required to park his race car for the remainder of the event.

  • A driver who is required to go to the end of the longest line is to make his pitstop the second time by and speed either entering or exiting pitroad.

  • WARNING!!!
Drivers involved in a spin or wreck are required to stay where they are and wait until it's clear to proceed!  If the caution does not come out, DO NOT deliberately bring out a caution.  If you do, you will be black flagged and possibly disqualified from the race.  If you can't move your car for some reason, use your "escape" key to call for a tow truck as soon as possible.

  • Lucky Dog: The 1st car that is not on the lead lap, and is not at fault for the incident that brings out the caution gets the Lucky Dog.  The Lucky Dog will be announced after the leader picks up the pace car and the field crosses the start/finish line to begin the 1st complete lap of yellow.  There is no Lucky Dog if the caution comes out with 10 laps or less to go in the race on ovals. There is no Lucky Dog if the caution comes out with 3 laps or less to go in the race on road courses.  If you are awarded with the Lucky Dog, you are to drive through pit road the second time by speeding as you enter or exit to get the End Of Longest Line (EOLL) penalty, then line up for the restart accordingly.  An admin will score a lap for you at the restart.

  • Pit road: Drivers must stay in outside lanes.  Don't drive thru other drivers pit boxes.  If no one is behind you it is OK to drive lower lanes or thruogh pit stalls if vacant.

  • Black Flags: Cleared only if there was major confusion under yellow or if a driver gets disconnected and another driver is hit with an illegal pass black flag while the disconnected driver was offline.

  • Flaming: Absolutely NO FLAMING will be tolerated!  If you can't say it in church, you can't say it here.  If you begin flaming and you are warned by the race officials to stop, please stop or it will be followed by a black flag (up to ejection).  There will be no complaining about an incident during a race regardless of who is at fault.  If you feel that you have a legitimate complaint about an incident, you should 1st, save the race and then file a complaint within 24 hours after the incident by emailing the administrator.

  • After The Checkered Flag: All drivers except for the winner are to drive all the way around the track safely and retire from the PIT AREA or from the INFIELD after they have taken the checkers.  Just because you crossed the start/finish line doesn't mean the race is over.  The race is not over until the last car takes the checkers.  If you wrecklessly cause a caution to come out before all drivers have crossed the start/finish line, it's the same as if you did it in the middle of the race.

  • Ventrilo: Only to be used for driver-to-driver safety communications.  No chatting it up!  This is especially important after a caution comes out.  Drivers need to be able to hear their spotters and admins in order to avoid confusion on the track and unnecessary black flags.  Text messaging through the NASCAR 2003 Game can be done at any time during race conditions under green.

Be aware of OFFICIAL CHAT TEXT.  It will be in BOLD TEXT.  Note: You should also have Teamspeak installed in the event Ventrilo is down during a race.
